This past year has been pretty challenging for couples who don’t live together, and Christmas looks set to be a tough time too. So today I am sharing my thoughts on dating over Christmas during lockdown. Before I continue, I want to mention I am in the UK, so this post will reflect UK Covid-19 restrictions.

Dating Over Christmas During Lockdown
In the UK, up to 3 households are allowed to join together from 24th-28th December 2020. Support bubbles are separate to this. So if, (like me) your partner is your support bubble, you can join up with 2 other households. Read on for my opinion on what this means and how this could work.
Assuming your partner is your support bubble, you can see them at your home or theirs as much as you want over Christmas. Additionally, you can add up to 2 other households to your bubble from 24th to 28th December. This means you could finally meet each others parents – If they agree to add you to their Christmas bubble of course.
Single At Christmas During Lockdown
Being single doesn’t mean you can’t date. In tiers 1 and 2, you can still meet other households outdoors, so are able to meet for a walk, or go for a bike ride together, for example. Alternatively, a walk, followed by a take out coffee or picnic could be an option.
You do need to be mindful of social distancing though. So you can go for an outdoor date in Devon as it’s Tier 2 there at the moment. But meeting a stranger for a meal in a restaurant for example is not currently permitted there. Don’t worry if you don’t want to meet in person yet though. This online dating agency Devon is full of singles in the area, who are looking for someone special. You can always chat online until it’s safe to meet in the flesh.
Planning A Tier 3 Date
Now it’s Winter, meeting up outdoors is a lot less appealing. Some people may be tempted to break the tier restrictions, but there are still ways to date, while adhering to them. For example, you could indulge in a Zoom date.
Firstly, get yourself glammed up, and plan ahead to cook the same meal or order a take away for 1. When it’s time for your date, pop your phone or laptop in front of you and act like they are in the room with you. Giving yourself a pamper while you get ready is a great way to practice self – love too. It’ll get those endorphins rushing and make you feel good.
Alternatively, why not skip the meal, do a video call and play some getting to know you type games. “This or that” is a great one to quickly learn about each other. When considering dating over Christmas during lockdown, there’s plenty of ways to spend time together. How about video calling and watching the same show, or doing a wine tasting session together?
Despite not being able to get close enough to kiss, there’s still plenty of ways to date during lockdown.
