One thing lockdown did was made me forget how to date properly. As in, actually leave the house on date night. In the past 18 months, we’ve had a lot of take outs, and watched the sun set from the garden and been for a lot of local walks on many occasions. As wonderful as those were, I’ve been secretly planning some UK Summer date ideas, and thought I’d share my ideas. So read on for some of the UK Summer date ideas I’ve come up with.

UK Summer Date Ideas
Firstly, I’m not going to go into great detail about meals out, as I’m pretty sure most people will know this is currently allowed. From 12th April 2021, you could dine outside with up to 6 people per table (if from different households). Since the 17th May, you’ve also been able to dine inside as well. I’d definitely recommend making a reservation though, as tables fill up fast! I have written about socially distanced dating before, so check that out for more ideas.
Open Air Theatre
We’ve been to a few open air theatre shows, and have always really enjoyed them. There’s plenty scheduled for this Summer, so do a quick google search to find out what’s happening near you. These are definitely one of my favourite UK Summer Date Ideas.
The one I went to last offered a picnic option too. So we literally took our seating (picnic blanket or garden chair) along with us, and they provided everything else. Additionally, if you choose the right location, you can always add a romantic horse and carriage ride or a boat ride to your date.
Sunset Picnic
If, like me you’re not completely comfortable with the idea of being inside a restaurant just yet, the fact you can travel further definitely opens up more potential Summer date ideas. Personally, I’m looking forward to packing up a picnic, so we can watch the sun set on the beach.
Alternatively, If you want to really push the boat out, you could hire a beach hut for the day / evening. That way, you’ll have somewhere to warm up and get changed if you need to. You’ll also have somewhere to shelter, should the weather turn. If you’re a decent journey away from the beach like us, you could always consider booking a hotel room nearby, so the evening doesn’t have to be cut short.
Two separate households have been allowed to stay together in the UK, since the 17th May. So there’s nothing stopping you having a “sleepover”, if you don’t live together or bubble up. This is good news for those who want to take their relationship to the next level. A friend recently became active in the Hampshire Dating scene. Her second date involved a drive to Southampton for a meal and sunset stroll.
Stay At Home
One thing I want to stress is that there’s absolutely NO PRESSURE on you or your partner to be venturing out more. Whether you’re anxious about covid, don’t have childcare or can’t afford to be flippant with cash… There’s still loads of great at – home date ideas which can help keep things fresh.
Also, lockdown rules relaxing means you can always have an at – home first date, so don’t feel pressured to meeting in crowded areas. How about arranging an informal drink in the garden. Alternatively, why not opt for an evening stroll around your local park instead? There’s plenty of other local dating sites like the Hampshire Dating one my friend used, if you’re still searching for your significant other.
