Do Holiday Romances Ever Last?
I’ve had a couple of holiday romances of my own, but unfortunately, neither lasted very long once we returned to our everyday lives. One of the romances was when I was visiting family in Scotland and I spent the next five days inseparable from a guy I met in a club up there. He phoned in work sick, and we did the tourist thing in his home City – it was brilliant… I even extended my own stay for two days to spend more time with him.
When I finally had to go home, we promised to keep in touch. For a few weeks we did. He sent me actual letters via snail mail, texts, and we spoke regularly too. We’d made plans for him to come down to Manchester for a visit, but it didn’t happen. Life happened I guess. I don’t regret it though. So if you’re single and planning a UK holiday this year, why not sign up to a location specific dating site to plan a couple of meet ups. Whether that’s Surrey Dating sites or Manchester ones, there’s loads out there.

My Friend’s Holiday Romance
Way back in 2007, myself and 3 female friends headed off to Magaluf for a week of fun in the sun. All four of us were single, so we planned to have lots of fun. While on the bus from the airport to their hotel, one of my friends got taking to a group of guys who were out there for a Stag do. By the end of the first night, she had hooked up with one of the guys. They spent most of the next week together, and had planned to meet up a couple of weeks later. He flew back to the UK a few hours before we did, on our last day.
When we came through the arrivals gate in Manchester, guess who was stood there waiting? Yep! He’d ditched mis mates and his lift home to wait for her at the airport. They’ve been together for 14 years now, and have been living in New Zealand for 10 of those! So if you asked either of them, “Do holiday romances ever last?” They’d say YES YES YES!!

Tips For Making Your Holiday Romance Work
If you hope to make your holiday romance become more of a long term thing, it’s important to be realistic. How likely is it you’ll be able to meet up regularly? Are you able to talk on the phone / video call regularly? Things like that will help keep the spark alive between meet ups.
Personally, I’d be going into it with no expectations, so you aren’t hurt if it fizzles out. Let’s be honest, Far more people would say no than yes, when asked, do holiday romances ever last? So make sure you’re both on the same page. It’s important to get clarification on whether you’re exclusive, or if you’re just going to be friends with benefits.
Plan Your Reunion In Advance
It’s worth thinking about the logistics of meeting back up in advance. If one of you can put the other up, then that’s great. However, if you both live with your parents, it becomes more complicated – especially if there’s a lot of miles between you. Consider booking a weekend trip to a destination half way between you both. For example, if you are from Plymouth and want to meet up with the guy you met via a Surrey Dating site… Bournemouth is pretty central to you both.
Finally, when considering do holiday romances ever last? Remember you only live once. While I don’t recommend quitting your job and moving across the country (or world) to be with someone you’ve known for a week… Don’t rule out a long term relationship! Another of my friends moved 150 miles to be with her partner after they met when she was visiting a relative. They’ve been married for 13 years this year! So they too would say YES when asked do holiday romances ever last?
