How To Get Yourself 9 Summer Outfits For Under £50 – Including Shoes

fashion

So if you’re anything like me… You’ve probably spent a small fortune kitting your kids out for Summer, and don’t have much money left for yourself. With that in mind, today I am sharing how to get yourself 9 Summer outfits for under £50 – Including shoes! All of these items are available to buy now, so your new wardrobe won’t break the bank!

Get Yourself 9 Summer Outfits For Under £50 – Including Shoes!

The method I am using is similar to a capsule wardrobe. All of the pieces can be mix and matched, to create different looks. Without further ado, here’s the basic idea of how to get yourself 9 Summer outfits for under £50 – Including shoes…

Tops Total: £9.75

Firstly, you need to select 3 plain tops, which will go with most colours. I went for a black and a coral vest top, which were 2 for £6 in George. I’m a size 18, so love that they are loose around my tummy. I’ve already got several of these vest tops, and they wash really well. The white top is from Sainsburys. It has a cute plaited strap detail and is just £3.75.

Bottoms Total: £28

Secondly, you need to select 3 items to wear with your tops. I have 2 young kids and 2 dogs, so I don’t wear skirts. The 3 pairs of bottoms I chose cost £28 between them. However, you could always opt for shorts or skirts if you prefer. Firstly, the Black and White Aztec Jersey Cullottes are cost £8 in Asda. The Palm Print woven pants were £10 in Asda. Finally, the black bengaline trousers cost £10 from Matalan.

Once you have 3 tops and 3 bottoms, you can mix and match them to create 9 different outfits. As you can see, all of the tops go well with all 3 pairs of trousers I opted for.

£12 left for Footwear

If you opt for the same items I picked, you’ll have just over £12 left over for footwear. I am a big fan of flip flops in the Summer, but I like to have some white pumps, too. You can choose one pair from the selection below, or shop elsewhere! All 3 pairs shown below are from Sainsburys.

Subtle Sexy Halloween Costumes

Subtle Sexy Halloween Costumes

One of my friends has recently become single. She was saying last week how excited she was to be single for Halloween. (I’ll change her name to Claire for the purpose of this post). She’s excited about being able to browse loads of subtle sexy halloween costumes and not have to worry about what her other half thinks of her choice. Claire’s planning on letting her hair down, good and proper. We spent some time last week coming up with ideas, and I thought I’d share some today.

She has plans to go out for drinks first, so doesn’t want something too indecent, but wants to turn some heads – if you know what I mean!

Subtle Sexy Halloween Costumes

Our first subtle sexy halloween costumes idea was for her to be a:

Sexy biker chick

Claire’s already got a leather look biker jacket, and she was thinking Faux leather pants, a slashed tight fitting band tee (revealing a red bra underneath), and a pair of over the knee boots as well. Claire already has most of the items – it would just be the boots she would have to buy, so this choice wouldn’t cost her too much. Her hair is black, so it would have to be a wig if she opted for coloured hair like that pictured below.

We were talking about where she is going, and Claire said she had a date lined up with someone she met on a Manchester dating site. She is meeting him for drinks and is then going off to a large Halloween party. Claire has the option of taking him along too, if the date goes well.

Another outfit possibility we came up with for subtle sexy halloween costumes was a:

Sexy fortune teller

The idea was she would wear a corset – which would show off her ample cleavage. She could then team this with a long, flowing skirt and black ankle boots. Something like the below image but with bare arms and chest. Claire was thinking of adding a black, velvet cloak too. This would keep her warm but also keep her assets visible.

I was more than a little concerned when Claire said she was meeting someone she hadn’t met before while dressing so provocatively. She told me she had been talking to the guy via dating sites in Manchester for weeks, and was meeting him in a bar where she knew the staff. One of her other friends was meeting her there to go on to the party too, so Claire wouldn’t be alone with him at all. Have you considered online dating? I was surprised to see it’s so popular now that there are even sites specifically for over 50s dating.

Our third and final idea for subtle sexy halloween costumes was:

Pagan Witch

We aren’t talking warty, big hat wearing witch here – We mean sexy, smouldering Wiccan goddess… I thought a black or purple dress with a low cut front. Then possibly a cloak similar to the one mentioned for a fortune teller above would be great. Our idea for this would be plenty of dramatic highlighting and dark red lips.

What do you think of these ideas? Would you consider wearing any of the three? I’d definitely be up for dressing as any of these if I were going to a grown ups’ Halloween Party.

Hotter Shoes Marie Curie Collaboration

It’s day 19 of Blogtober, and today’s prompt is Style for Autumn and Winter. As a work from home mum, fashion isn’t something I spend a lot of time (or money) on. I do however spend a lot of time choosing my footwear. I’m a stickler for comfort, and love nothing more than a comfy pair of boots! I was perusing the Hotter Website yesterday and spotted their Marie Curie Collaboration. How cute are these new limited edition Grey Pixie Boots…

Hotter Shoes Marie Curie Collaboration

I thought the boots alone were super cute, but then I spotted that Hotter will donate £20 to Marie Curie for each pair of boots purchased. The Daffodil lining is a nod to Marie Curie, and the yellow stitching is another subtle nod to them too. I love a pair of comfy boots, and am definitely adding these beauties to my birthday wish list. *take note Hubby*…

More About The Hotter Shoes Marie Curie Collaboration

Marie Curie are one of the UK’s most well known caring charities. They provide vital care and support for those with terminal illnesses, and their families. I love the fact Hotter haven’t bumped up the RRP of the boots by £20 to cover the cost of their Marie Curie Collaboration – these boots are £85 – the same price as all the other boots in the Pixie collection. These limited edition boots join the other 9 colours already available in this boot style.

Hotter Shoes Marie Curie Collaboration I think they look super comfy and great for popping on with jeans or leggings. I wear a lot of black and grey, so they’ll compliment my wardrobe too. Today, I have treated myself to the below top from Matalan. I think it will go perfectly with black leggings and these boots, and it was a bargain at £12 – what do you think?

Hotter Shoes Marie Curie Collaboration

It looks like the perfect Autumn – Winter transition outfit to me, Super comfy and casual!

Would you wear these boots or this outfit? I’d love to know your thoughts on the Marie Curie Collaboration idea!

Autumn Fashion Picks For A 30 Something Professional

Autumn is my favourite season, and this year, I want to try to mix things up when it comes to Autumn Fashion. Usually, when buying clothes for myself, I tend to stick to skinny jeans, and t-shirts (long sleeved ones in Winter). Or I’ll wear leggings and a tunic if I want to make a bit more of an effort.

Making More Of An Effort:

One of the perks of working from home is that I don’t have to wear office clothes. I do still like to make an effort if I am going to a meeting or fed up of being a slummy mummy. I’m a UK size 16, so edging into the realm of plus size, but still able to buy clothes in most places.

I have decided to put together 3 professional type outfits for this Autumn Winter Season based on what I have seen so far. My friends would say I am very much a High Street Shopper, and like to get good value for money from my clothes. It’s definitely true that I try to pick pieces which I can mix and match, to get more than one look from each piece.

My Autumn Fashion Picks:

In some ways, you could call this a capsule wardrobe. Four new items of clothes which make 3 entirely brand new outfits for this season. Here goes nothing then…

Trousers:

I love these Mini Check Wide Leg Trousers. They are £32 from Very. Check is very big this season, and while I love it, I’m not really confident enough to wear big bold check prints. Wide leg trousers are flattering for those of us with a larger figure, and the high waist, again helps to pull everything together. I think the button detail is super cute too, and the pockets are a big plus from me!

Autumn Fashion Picks

I fell in love with these black check print wide leg trousers as soon as I saw them. They are £28 in Debenhams, and from the Principles range. They are pull on, so will be nice and comfy. The wide leg style is my favourite, as it’s flattering for a larger figure and really comfortable as well.

Autumn Fashion Picks

Knitted Top:

This white knitted top is down to £8 in Sainsburys at the moment. I think it is perfect for the office. I am terrible for wearing a jumper and then having the sleeves pushed up all day. That leads to the cuffs getting all saggy. Not a problem with this top. It’ll go perfectly with both black leggings or a skirt too – win – win! It’ll also be nice and cosy on a day off, teamed with black skinny jeans!

Autumn Fashion Picks

The Blouse:

I have always been a big fan of Lipsy, and used to shop there all the time when I was in my 20s. Nowadays, I don’t buy much of their range, but this blouse really caught my eye. This top can be dressed up or down. In my opinion, this blouse is perfect for both a meeting or drinks after work. It can be paired with both the black trousers and the grey ones too, so it is super versatile. What do you think? It is available from Next for £28. I think it’s great, and will see you through Autumn and into Winter. That’s why it’s made it into my Autumn Fashion Picks!

Autumn Fashion Picks

You’re getting 3 outfits for the price of 2, as all 4 of these items can be mixed and matched. If you bought all 4 pieces, you’d be spending £96. That works out at £32 per outfit – not too bad in my opinion.

What do you think of my Autumn Fashion Picks? Would you wear these outfits?
