This year, I am planning on getting my Hogwarts on when it comes to my Harry Potter Inspired Halloween Ideas. I have seen a few tutorials for various crafts, which I thought I’d share today. I am going to get some made on Monday and Tuesday so I can have them ready for the Trick or Treaters on Halloween. What do you think of these ideas…?
Harry Potter Inspired Halloween Ideas
When googling Harry Potter Inspired Halloween Ideas, the main thing which pops up is wands and floating candles. I got so excited when I first saw these candles that I ordered the glue gun and flickering tea lights – they’ll be here today!
Monday will involve Syd and I painting loads of toilet roll tubes white! I haven’t ordered the keys as they won’t be here in time now. Despite beginning googling in August, I only ordered supplies on Saturday – oops! If the candles work well, I am going to make Syd a candle, key and snitch inspired mobile for her bedroom. I think that will look so cool!
When it comes to giving out treats on Halloween, I am always mindful of how many children can’t have sweets or chocolate. The joys of having a daughter with a dairy allergy and a diabetic husband, I guess! I’d never considered offering anything but sweets until 6 years ago.
This year, as well as the usual snack size chocolate bars in my big cauldron, I am going to pop a few golden snitches, glow sticks and magic wand pencils in.
I got the idea for the snitches from Red Ted Art – how cute are these…..
I’m super lazy though, so I think it’ll be real feather wings for ours – mostly because I have a bag of white feathers which need using anyway.
I found this tutorial for wands not so long ago, and I think they’ll be cool to offer to all of the witches and wizards who knock on. This tutorial has some fab ideas for making them on chopsticks. I’m going to use this as a rough guide for making my designs on pencils. EEK! I figured the kids can actually use them if they are pencils. (Plus they work out cheaper)!
That’s about it for now – I’ll do another post next week to let you know how it all turned out!
I’m linking this up to day 28 of Blogtober – the prompt for today is: “Arts and crafts for Halloween or Bonfire Night”. Why not check out my other Blogtober blog posts here. You can also find blog posts from other bloggers via the Big Family Chaos linky, by clicking the badge below.
