Tips For Managing Your Small Business Team

If you’re the owner of a small business, an efficient workforce will be the most valuable tool at your disposal. As such, the way in which you manage the team is one of the most important responsibilities you’ll ever face. With that in mind, today I am sharing tips for managing your small business team. Read on for ideas to improve you’re business’ productivity and your team morale.

Tips For Managing Your Small Business Team

Developing the right leadership qualities may seem to be a daunting task, but it can be far easier than you imagine. Here’s all you need to do.

Step 1: Assemble the right team

Every aspect of the venture becomes easier to master once you’ve assembled a winning team. However, it’s not all about great candidates. You must consider the workspace environments that’ll be used too. Find the right blend of people with personality traits to reflect the brand in a winning fashion, and leading them will become very easy indeed. It should aid your individual workflow too.

Step 2: Invest in communication

Communication sits at the heart of all business ventures. There are several things you can do to improve yours. The introduction of shorter meetings is a very smart move that stops conversations spilling into other topics. When supported by team Apps and efficient project management, the results are phenomenal. A united team will naturally perform to higher standards.

Step 3: Automate monitoring where possible

Automation can have a telling impact on the team’s performance, even in areas that you’ve previously overlooked. Streamlined DVIR management saves time for your staff while allowing you to track the situation at all times. This is particularly important due to the fact that drivers aren’t on-site. Combine this with tracking sales performance and office productivity to gain optimal gains.

Step 4: Encourage autonomy

Having invested time and money into recruitment, it’d be a shame to let yourself down now. Sadly, a lot of business owners prevent their employees from showing their potential. This is because they do not allow them to use their targeted skills and knowledge. As a leader, you need to ensure that all staff members understand the objectives. As far as methodology is concerned, though, let them show the way.

Step 5: Promote development

In addition to their natural skills, employees need to develop new ones to meet new possibilities. Finding suitable interactive training for your team makes them stronger candidates. Moreover, it shows that their careers are progressing in the right direction. This in itself can evoke a big reaction from junior staff members. When this atmosphere spreads throughout the team, success is assured.

Step 6: Lead by example

As a team manager, it’s true that you need to do what’s right for the team. Nevertheless, they will naturally look to you for inspiration. Therefore, simply maintaining a positive mentality and work ethic can encourage team members to work harder. When added to the direct benefits that will be seen in your own productivity, it makes sense to invest in your look and performance. You will not regret it.

None of the above steps is difficult to master. So, as long as you have a comprehensive strategy in mind, your term’s performance will become better than ever. Finally, if this post on tips for managing your small business team has been useful, check out my business category.

My Biggest Political Influencers

my biggest Political influencers - Houses of Parliament

Unless you live in a cave far, far away from the United Kingdom… Chances are you’ve heard all about the General Election which took place last week. The results were not the ones I wanted, however, rather than ranting and raving about it… I have decided to focus some energy on sharing some of my biggest political influencers from this General Election…

My biggest political influencers from the past

I’ve always had an interest in politics for as long as I can remember. This stems from 1997, and everybody going a bit crazy about New Labour. I was massively into music back then, so seeing pop stars endorsing Tony Blair raised him on some invisible pedestal for me. Of course, I was too young to vote back then, but I remember going to the polling station 3 times that day. Once with each parent, and once with my older sister. I remember feeing such a buzz as I walked through the doors of the polling station. Almost like everyone knew change was coming… And it did!

Labour Victory

I’ll never forget my Dad’s euphoric whoops the morning after when he turned on the news before work, and saw the Election results. My parents were both Labour voters their entire lives. I haven’t been though. Personally, I always voted Lib Dem until they formed their coalition with the Conservatives in 2010. I’ve been a Labour voter ever since.

Brexit Is Everywhere

This year, we have of course been bombarded with Brexit. Everywhere we’ve looked, it’s been hounding us. In between that, the news of the NHS crumbling, our police and fire services being slashed to record lows and austerity levels hitting a new high. For me, the 2019 General Election was about far more than Brexit. All of these factors mattered just as much.

I spent a lot of time reading up on the Party manifestos, and listening to Politicians and “experts” sharing their opinions. Additionally, I did a lot of information searching and people profiling myself. American Politicians have consultants like David Urban to help them handle their policies and affairs. However, their British counterparts seem to be left to their own devices more often than not. This can lead to some pretty big mistakes on their parts.

Personally, I read a lot of content which was shared by all of the main parties, including all of the manifestos. I also read a lot of fact checked information via Full Fact. This website was really informative, and helped me to work out which things were genuine, and what was fake news.

Several journalists also held my interest and helped me to make an informed decision. Johnathan Pie was one such person. His videos never fail to make me stop and think. Owen Jones who writes for the Guardian also inspired me to keep searching for more genuine information.

My Thoughts

Personally, I did not vote for the party who won the General Election. Of course, I feel disappointed about this, and very worried about the future. That said, I believe in diplomacy and the people voted for the Conservatives. I just hope that the levels of poverty, austerity, UK Debt and NHS wait times don’t get worse as a result.
